About Bulgaria
BULGARIA, recognized as one of the most beautiful vacation spots in Eastern Europe, is located in southeast Europe’s Balkan Peninsula just north of Greece, northwest of European Turkey, and south of Romania, with the black sea to the east and Macedonia and Serbia to the west. With 7.5 million people living in 111,000 square kilometers, making Bulgaria the least densely populated country in Europe, Bulgaria boasts a varied geography and climate that include the mountains, the sea, fields of roses, and picturesque villages, with a capital city of Sofia that has both hot mineral springs and skiing within minutes of the city center. The country provides excellent conditions for seaside vacationing in the summer and mountain vacationing in the summer and winter.
Bulgaria became a NATO member in 2004 and an EU member in 2007.
